Life can often be overwhelming and stressful, leaving us feeling drained and out of touch with our passions, as I came to understand not too long ago. When this happens, it is important to take a step back from the chaos and reconnect with what brings us joy. If you didn’t already know, joy is essential for our mental health and well-being. It helps reduce stress levels, improves our mood, increases motivation and productivity, as well as inspiring creativity.

Fortunately, there are many ways to reconnect with what brings you joy, from simple activities that bring you pleasure on a daily basis to meaningful experiences that help you appreciate life’s beauty.

Make Time for Yourself

Find something that brings you joy. If you don’t think you have anything that sparks joy, trust me, you do. Everyone has different activities that bring them joy and peace of mind. Find out what it is and set aside some time to indulge, even if it’s only 30-minutes a day. Maybe it’s reading, music, nature walks, crafting, gardening, or binge-watching long overdue shows on your watch list. Whatever it is for you, make sure to fit that into your day so you can have time to enjoy yourself and recenter. Remember, the time you make for yourself is non-negotiable. When you tell yourself you will make the time no matter what, you’re more likely to stick with it and incorporate it into your daily life.

Get Creative

Tapping into your creativity can be an incredibly rewarding experience. It’s a chance to reconnect with what brings you joy and explore new ideas, perspectives, and possibilities. Creative pursuits can increase self-confidence, bring clarity to difficult decisions, and help us find our own unique voice in the world. But I understand starting creative endeavors can often be the hardest part- but it doesn’t have to be. You already know to schedule your 30-minute block of time. Next, you want to seek out inspiration. Take a break from your usual routine to explore new ideas and perspectives. Seek out things that inspire you such as podcasts, art, books, and social media platforms like Pinterest. Lastly, connect with others people who share common interests. Find a creative community or get yourself an accountability partner to connect and collaborate with. This will increase the fun factor and help you stay motivated.

Reconnect With Nature

When we feel disconnected from our passions and joys in life, it can be helpful to reconnect with nature – even if it’s raining a bit. Nature has a way of calming us down, inspiring us, and providing us with an opportunity to reflect on our lives. Going for a walk in the woods or by the beach, admiring beautiful landscapes, or simply sitting outside under the stars can help put things into perspective and provide clarity when needed. Connecting with nature also helps increase gratitude and appreciation for what we have in life, as well as reminding us that there’s something bigger than ourselves out there. Unplugging from screens, social media, and technology every once in a while is also beneficial, allowing us to slow down and take some time out just for ourselves.

Reconnect With What Brings You Joy

Make Time For Friends And Family

When reconnecting with what brings us joy, it is important to make time for family and friends. Maintaining meaningful relationships is one of the key ingredients for a joyful life. Setting aside dedicated moments each day or week can help keep everyone connected, even when life gets busy. In addition to strengthening relationships, spending quality time together creates lasting memories that will bring a smile whenever you reminisce about on them. So when seeking to reconnect with what brings you joy, don’t forget the importance of making time with those in your inner circle.

and most importantly…

Live In The Moment

Living in the moment is a powerful way to reconnect with what brings you joy. It’s about taking time out of your day to focus on the present and appreciating all that life has to offer. When we live in the moment, we can savor every experience – even simple ones like enjoying a cup of coffee or going for a walk. We become more aware of our surroundings. You know the little things which can often go unnoticed when you’re in a rush or worse, being too caught up in capturing moments for social media. Keeping ourselves in the moment, it allows us to be more mindful and appreciative of what’s around us. Additionally, it momentarily lets us forget about our worries and stressors so we can enjoy life as it comes without judgment or expectations. It’ll be those beautiful memories that will stay with us long after the current hardships that we might be facing have come to an end.

By taking small steps each day towards finding joy, you will be able to create a positive environment for yourself where you feel connected and content. When we learn to recognize the joy in our lives, it gives us the energy to move forward and continue on our journey with positivity and enthusiasm! So give it a try – live for the little moments of joy that life has to offer you. It’s time to take a break from stress and start embracing what brings YOU happiness!
