We are three months in on this kitchen décor project, and we are finally ready to start purchasing. It’s super exciting, but I have to be completely honest and say that this process has been so eye-opening for me. Let’s take a trip down memory lane. Years ago, I would just start randomly buying items with no complete plan because of two big issues: 1. I didn’t always have the freedom to spend money on what I needed and 2. My husband wasn’t fully part of the process (he was more the finances and spreadsheets guy). The combination of those two things would honestly make me so discouraged that I would never finish my project. But oh, how things have changed.

This time around, I feel like a complete and absolute boss. Not only have I learned from the gaffes of my past projects, but I am also sharing this project with my husband. He’s still our finances and spreadsheets guy, but The Hubs is fully engaged at every stage of the project and he’s enjoying it. Yeah, we’re spending money but it’s us planning and working together to turn our house into a beautiful home all while our Chase Freedom Unlimited card earns us 1.5% on EVERY purchase. What am I going to do with the cash back we’re earning? Plan an overdue date night with The Hubs.

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions

Okay, back to our DIY home décor project details. We aren’t quite ready to start installing and decorating, but we have made some key purchases like our light fixtures, a new faucet, and cabinet handles. We found all of the items online after a simple search and click to purchase! The Chase Freedom Unlimited cash back credit card offers cardholders zero liability protection, purchase protection, and extended warranty coverage. These are just a few reasons why I feel so safe using this particular card online.

While we wait for our purchases to arrive, we’re still debating on what to do with the accent wall. As you can see from the image above, we have a really nice sizable wall to play with and the question we’re asking ourselves is, should we paint or put a wallpaper mural on? Whatever we decide on, at least we know the mood for our space and the budget, and that’s helping us a lot. The most beautiful thing is, we aren’t debating on what we can and can’t spend. We made our kitchen decor plan together and are working to execute it! Yes, we have so much more work to do but I’m grateful for the financial freedom of knowing that I’m always earning on every purchase with my cash back credit card, bringing me one step closer to my goal.

Check out these pieces we have landed on! I’m so excited I’m like a kid on the first day of school with my new school supplies and clothes… yes that excited!

Remember that accent wall we were debating about? We could really use your help on which wall to go with. Our direction is rustic chic, with a hint of modern farmhouse.

Option One:

Forest with path removable wallpaper.

Option Two:

Forest with path removable wallpaper and side chalkboard wall.

Option Three:

Mixed media gallery wall with a side chalkboard wall.

I’m thinking plates, baskets, and other cool items that stand out but work in the space. Which one do you like most? Are you in the middle of your own kitchen décor project? How is it coming along? Comment below.
