Parenting is a hard job. There are so many little things you have to do, day in and day out, to make sure the kids are happy, healthy and thriving. It’s time-consuming to be a parent. So when you find a hack in life that can save you a little bit of time or make the kids happy, Its a GREAT day.
Here are 10 life hacks that have made my life easier as a parent I hope they help you as well.
Laundry basket for bath time
When your child is able to sit up on their own but not yet stand bath time can be difficult. They want to move and get their toys and you are hunched over holding on to them. This hack is great because it allows the child a little more independence. They are able to sit up and you have the added bonus of the toys not floating away.
Hot glue gun bottoms of bath toys so there won’t be mold
Rubber Ducky bath toys are all the rage but that little hole in the bottom of it (or any other bath toy) likes to let in water and where there is water that can’t dry, mold appears. This quick little hack allows your child the comfort of bath toys but eases your fear of their toy growing its own ecosystem.
D.I.Y outlet cover
Sometimes when are visiting family without little ones or going on vacation the LAST thing you think about is baby proofing. Outlets are very dangerous for inquisitive babies and toddlers. You may not have outlet covers but most parents have first aid kits with band-aids. These are great to use in a quick pinch to keep little hands safe.
Use pizza cutter to slice up food into bite-size pieces
Gone are the days where you have to use a knife to cut up those small bite size pieces of pancakes, waffles, PB sandwich or even pizza. With a roll of the pizza cutter, you are able to get uniform pieces of food in one quick swipe. You’re welcome!
D.I.Y mini lego table
This is a great parent hack for when you have a toddler. Sometimes they have to wait for things whether it’s at a restaurant, doctor’s office or the grocery checkout. you can check out how to make this DIY mini lego table here.
Place tape over toy speakers to lower volume
We have all been there, a well to do person buys your child the loudest toy in history. I am in awe that most do not come with volume control but that is another blog post lol. One hack that can help quite your home is to place tape over the speaker.
Limit soap by twisting rubber bands around the nozzle
I was not aware I needed this hack until my oldest started to potty train. The amount of soap that little one would go through just to wash his hands was breaking the bank. I had to fill up my hand soap like once a week. This hack saves your coins. Simply twist a rubber band or hair tie around the nozzle and the amount of soap they get is perfect for little hands.
Roll clothes together when packing saves space
Packing for little kids can take up a lot of space. One way to save that space is by rolling their outfits(it also saves space for your clothes as well) Here is an extra hack. you can put the socks on the outfit on the ends of the roll and you will have them all set to wear when you get little one dressed.
Using a trash bag as a tarp for art projects inside
On rainy or cold days art projects are fun, the mess they create is not. This is a way to clean up hack. Just tape down a few trash bags on the floor and your kid can paint away. If you would like to see how to make your own nontoxic paint check it out here.
Keep your travel toiletries from destroying your clothes
Cut a small piece of plastic wrap and unscrew the lids to all the toiletries that you are traveling with. Place the plastic on the lid and then screw the top back on. This helps stop the explosion of product getting on any clothing or items you have.
I hope these hacks will help make your life a little easier and give you peace of mind when you are hanging out with your kids. What are some of your favorite parenting hacks? Share them below in the comments.
