What’s one thing that makes black girls magical? Versatility. We can change-up our look at the drop of a dime. With that being said, drops dime, I am in love with this super fun and simple double bun hairstyle! Not only is it a protective style, it works best with “worn” hair. So after that twist out has seen better days or that bantu knot out is on its death-bed, your hair is in perfect condition for double buns. Now, I know it may not seem like you need guidance on this style. However, you’ll soon find out that I have some tips for getting it done the right way. Let’s get to it!
What I used:
- Pony Tail Holders
- Wide Tooth Comb
- Bristle Brush
- Bobby Pins
- Cantu Moisturizing Curl Activator Cream
- Cantu Stay Gel Edge Control
- Eco Styler Gel – Argan Oil
Visual Guide:
Directions:
- Start with “worn” older hair
- Part hair in half using wide tooth comb or rat tail comb
- Apply hydration to hair (Cantu Moisturizing Curl Activator Creme)
- Work moisturizer into hair using brush
- Position first ponytail and secure with ponytail holder
- Tip: Use ears and eyes as guiding points for leveling ponytails
- Position second ponytail and secure with ponytail holder
- Twist in and wrap up ponytail into a bun
- Tip: Fluff hair after securing each bun to achieve desired fullness
- Repeat on opposite side
- Use 2-3 bobby pins to secure each bun
- Clean up edges with pomade/gel and brush (Cantu Stay Gel Edge Control)
- Option: Using a small tooth comb, pull a small amount of hair out in front of each ear
- Option: Use pomade/gel and finger curl leave out (Eco Styler Gel)
