Guys, we did it! Ahem, well Garrison did it, he completed his first day of school. He was excited and ready to go. I mean, ready. That morning we hit the ground running. He breezed through this morning routine, mostly because he had his outfit picked out the night before. I let him pick his outfit for his first day of first grade because I know the impact of looking good! You look good, you feel good.

While I normally pick all of Garrison’s clothes, this year we went into Walmart and he picked EVERY item all by himself! So laying his clothes out the night before was exciting and another way for him to express his style. He chose a Minecraft shirt (of course) and shorts. This is what makes back to school shopping at Walmart so great. They have a great selection of kid’s clothes that makes putting outfits together as easy as 1-2-3. When we pulled up to the school the joy was too much. He was thrilled to see his classmates and teachers so much so he didn’t even notice when Robert and I said our good-byes.

Check out how stylish G looked – I told you he was excited.

After school Garrison couldn’t stop talking about how much he loved first-grade. He also mentioned how everyone loved his shirt. Nothing like a statement piece of clothing to break the ice and make you feel more comfortable. That news really made me happy because this meant his first day back to school was filled with joy. As a parent, this is all we want for our children, especially in today’s climate. Listening to the excitement in his voice as he talked about all the things he learned.

Back to school shopping with Walmart really is the way to go as their selection is filled with pieces that children love and parents can afford. I also love how they’re committed to keeping families safe with their mandatory in-store mask policy, social distancing guides, and reduced store hours for deep cleanings. And if you want to stay inside you can order online for pick-up or free delivery.
