There are seven to ten days that you will have to find things to entertain your kids with until they return to school after the New Year. This my friends is the holiday break from school. I have you covered with a few suggestions, that will get you out of the house and the kids off of digital devices all day. I mean they can do that too, if you so choose!
Children’s Museum
During this holiday break, many kid friendly places will have specials and activities lined up for the week. A trip to your local children’s museum for a kid friendly cooking class would be a fun little day trip. It gives kids the opportunity to learn their way around the kitchen, and spark a potential new hobby. If a cooking class isn’t offered, there may be a story-time or special attraction they are providing during this time. You can’t go wrong with a museum, educational and fun at the same time!
Kids Paint Party
Maybe you can gather up a couple friends from the car pool, or cousins who may have the week off as well, and head to a kid paint party. If you’re really brave you can even buy the supplies yourself and have the party at home. (Not responsible for furniture that may be harmed during this process.) This is at least a two-hour activity that inspires creativity and they will have the canvas as a keepsake for years to come.
Indoor Water Park
I live in a place where we have like four different water park resorts at our disposal. My boys personally love these places, they can play in the water all day. (Please exercise caution at any activity that includes water if your kids aren’t the best swimmers.) What’s even better than it being indoors, all the pools are heated and can be attended all year round. Keep your eyes on Groupon to save major coins on a venue like this in your area. Groupon is an overall great resource for many of the suggestions on this post.
Indoor Trampoline Park
If you have little ones who are constantly bouncing off the walls, gather them up and head to an indoor trampoline park. They can jump for hours at a time on various trampoline activities, that for sure will tire them out. If I’m being honest, I love to get in on the fun as well.
Vacation
This is something that you would’ve had planned in advance, but if you are financially able, take a family vacation. Escaping for a few days to a warmer climate is always a good idea in my book, and I will be living vicariously through all of you. Wanna sneak me in your suitcase? Keep in mind there are pros and cons to holiday travel, you can read about them here.
I hope these suggestions are helpful. Let me know what you all have planned for the Christmas break, I am always looking for things to do with my boys!
