So you’re preparing for date night or a weekend getaway and need a quick hair style. I’ve got you covered with these super beautiful, bouncy barrel curls. I’ve coined these curls Barbie curls because well, she always has such fun, romantic hair. In this post, I am breaking down how to use Big Chop hair clip-ins to create big, bouncy curls.  Like they say…the bigger the better! Let’s get to it!

What I Used:

Directions:

  • Curl the clip-ins before clipping them into hair
  • Make sure to use heat protectant
  • Place one row at a time on wig block making it easier to curl each section
  • Set the curling iron at 450*
  • Leave curling iron on the hair for a bit to set the curl
  • Starting at the base, use 1” curling iron and wind the hair all the way to end
  • Then place one of the duck clips on the curl while it cools
  • While curls cool, prep natural hair
  • Cornrow natural hair and leave out a small section in the front.
  • If back of my braids are long use bobby pins to pin them up before installing clip-ins
  • TIP: The previous step is not necessary. However, makes it easier to blend and install the hair
  • Remove the duck clips from clip-ins and then place them into the base of cornrows
  • TIP: Make sure and secure them here and not just on the braids or it won’t fit securely
  • Continue placing the clip-ins in until reaching leave out section
  • At the top, part hair down the middle and apply heat protectant
  • TIP: My hair was previously blown out and not flat ironed
  • Turn down the heat on curling iron to about 375*
  • Begin creating big, barrel curls on the leave out
  • Avoid going for a silky straight look since the texture of the clip-ins allows for a more natural look
  • Finish the look by simply finger raking leave out and the clip-ins
