Oversized Slouchy Clutches are all the rave. The prices range from $50 – thousand of dollars, and let’s be honest with ourselves…we really want the super costly ones!!! You know, champaign taste on a beer budget. Well, that’s where I have you covered. This super easy tutorial will give you all the details so you can learn how to make a slouchy clutch, just like the super expensive ones at a fraction of the cost but with an added sense of accomplishment!

What you will need:
Any soft but heavy fabric (denim, faux fur, etc) – I used Metallic Silver leather
Lining – I used a “blanket” type fabric for the lining use what you like.
Zipper
Rotary Cutter, Board & Ruler
Sewing Machine & Thread – I used this machine

Instructions:

  • Prep fabric (cut fabric 16×24), repeat for lining
  • Fold lining in 1/4 inch for the seam. Pin each side of the lining.
  • Straight stitch down each side
  • Separate from the outer fabric
  • Zipper – pin lining into the backside of the zipper
  • Straight stitch all the way to the end (making sure to backstitch at both ends)
  • TIP: Always check your zipper. Unzip and zip to make sure it doesn’t snag.
  • Outer fabric – pin higher than the lining, repeat for other side
  • Flip inside out, sew with the zipper open
  • Zipper – start at the top of the zipper when sewing on the starting end of the zipper.
  • TIP: Don’t start into the zipper on the tail end
  • Cut off the excess zipper.
