I have been getting a ton of complements on my skin as of late so I want to share what has been working for my dry skin. With age my skin has changed so much, it’s gone from supple to meh. I started seeing fine lines, hyper-pigmentation and that horrible gray undertone that can cause foundation shopping to be a task to say the least. I went through every high end to low end skin care product in the market and well lets say I hope this post saves you time and money!
How to determine if you have dry skin:
Rough Dull Completion (That gray tone I spoke of above)
Rough Patches (Makeup sits on these spots and look horrible)
Invisible pores
Skin Feels Tight
Fine Lines and Wrinkles
Of course I am going to give you the lecture of drink plenty of water…yada yada yada. No, seriously it’s true drink plenty of water, good water. Sometimes the quality of water we drink isn’t ideal for what our bodies need so if you live in a hard water town go for bottle and or filtered water. On average an adult is suppose to drink 8 glasses of water a day…I find with my dry skin that drinking 10-12 glasses a day makes a huge difference. If you have problems drinking water try drinking a glass an hour, this will assure you are getting plenty of water! Also if you drink caffeinated or alcohol beverages please note these types of drink dehydrate you…simple drink 2 glasses of water for each glass you consume of a dehydrating beverage. So now that we got that out of the way lets get into a good routine.
Morning:
Cleanse your hands ( you should always have clean hands prior to touching/cleaning your skin)
Cleanse your face
Apply Toner
Oil /Serum (Optional in the summer)
Moisturize (I layer these two in the winter months)
Evening:
Cleanse your hands
Cleanse your face
Apply Toner
Oil / Serum
Moisturize (I do this every night)
Alternative Routine Options:
I replace Cleansing in the AM for exfoliating 3-4 times a week. This removes all dead skin cells and promotes healthy growth of the new cells.
I add a facial mask once or twice a week right after cleansing and toning in the evening routine and complete the rest of the steps as followed.
Products I live by:
Cleaners / Exfoliator
B. Kamins Vegetable Cleanser is a vegetable based cleanser that is an all-in-one cleanser and makeup remover formulated for even the most sensitive skin. Super cleansing but not drying.
Clarins Cleansing Milk with Alpine Herbs is a soothing cream cleanser that lifts away make-up and impurities with a gentle touch. Clarins’ proprietary blend of softening and toning plant extracts — including Alpine Herbs, St. John’s Wort, Sweet Almond, Marshmallow and Linden — helps maintain skin’s perfect moisture balance for optimum comfort and radiance. It literally feels like you are washing your face with an conditioner it’s that gentle.
B. Kamins Bamboo & Rice Facial Polisher is a gentle, polishing, textured cleanser which helps to clarify and refine sallow, thickened, sun-damaged, mottled or problematic complexions. Combines natural, finely-milled bamboo, tiny rice beads and gentle tensio-active sudsing agents to help exfoliate dead skin cells, refine pores and improve skin texture. Results are a more even and brilliant complexion.
Toner
Shea Terra Organics Moroccan Rose-Plenishing Facial Water 100% Natural. Leave your skin silky soft as you tone and hydrate with true rose water. This has completely changed my skin!!! I feel like rose water was the missing link for my journey to all around healthy skin. I can’t rave enough about this product! My skin smiles when I apply this toner.
Oils / Serums
My all-in-one oil/serum is Shea Terra Organics Rose Hips & Carrot Perfecting Serum is made with 100% pure, organic rose hips oil, cold pressed carrot seed oil and seabuckthorn oil. The synergy between these oils are more than just skin deep. With daily use of Rose Hips & Carrot Perfecting Serum skin will look moist and plump. Rose Hips & Carrot Perfecting Serum repairs damaged skin, enhances healthy cellular growth, improves acne, and greatly improves the moisture level and balance of skin. This oil is gentle enough to use on the entire face…since it is 100% natural you don’t have to worry about using something that is too harsh for sensitive skin.
Moisturizers
Shea Terra Organics Rose Hips & Carrot Face Crème is 99.7% Natural. It’s an ultra-moisturizing cream combines two of the world’s most effective anti-aging ingredients to create skin that is plump, even toned, and glowing. I use this on top of the Rose Hips & Carrot Perfecting Serum or alone. The combination of the serum and moisturizer is perfect for those dry winter months. I use this crème on my whole face including my under eye area. I have very sensitive skin under my eyes to the point that if I apply “eye cremes” it causes irritation and breakouts on the spot. I haven’t experienced that at all since using this product.
Mask
B. Kamins Diatomamus Earth Mask for dry to normal skin. This hydrating botanical mask helps to gently exfoliate, cool and calm skin. Formulated with diatomaceous earth rich in natural minerals, including magnesium, iron, calcium, and sodium, this mask helps to replenish and revitalize your complexion. Anti-oxidant protection is combined with moisture-attracting ingredients, soothing herbal extracts, and nourishing vitamins to leave skin smoother, brighter, firmer, and healthier-looking.
Acne Spot Treatment
Desert Essence Kinder to Skin Australian Tea Tree Oil this is my go to spot treatment for the start and/or occurring blemish and breakout. It dries the spot out and leaves me hyper-pigmentation free!!!
Makeup Remover
Lancome Bi Facil gently whisks away all types of eye makeup, even waterproof. I love this eye makeup remover because it’s gentle and high effective.
MAC Wipes these wipes work and fast! They remove makeup and condition the skin at the same time.
I also have a video for you!!! Check out it out, I break down how I use the products and of course give my quirky commentary!!! Join me over on YouTube.
